Bombay Velvet is an upcoming neo-noir, romantic thriller and crime drama film, based on historian Gyan Prakash's book Mumbai Fables. The film directed and co-produced by Anurag Kashyap. Bombay Velvet is set to release on May 15 and the producers have plans of releasing the film worldwide as India's first crossover.
The first trailer of director Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet, which has been in the making for the last five years, is out. The trailer transports you to a smoky, seductive Bombay (not Mumbai) of the Sixties, with men in sharp suits, women in bouffant hairdos and a city that by night looks impossibly glamorous and beguiling.
The surprise package in the trailer is Karan Johar, who knows how to get things done keeping a straight face. A different side of Karan Johar is seen in the trailer. The filmmaker who is generally very expressive turns into a tough villain. And For the first time, Ranbir Kapoor will be romancing Anushka Sharma and the duo sure set the screen on fire with their chemistry.

Story of Bombay Velvet Movie :
Story of the movie based on historian Gyan Prakash's book Mumbai Fables. Set in Bombay of the 1960s, the film tells the story of a boxer, Johnny Balraj, and an aspiring jazz singer, Rosie, and how their hopes and dreams collide with their individual realities. Ranbir Kapoor portrays the character of a boxer by the name of Johnny Baraj, while Anushka Sharma plays the character of Rosie Noronha, a stylish singer.

The film stars Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles and Karan Johar in a once-in-a-lifetime role of the antagonist. The music is by Anurag Kashyap's regular Amit Trivedi, who has used a lot of jazz for Anushka, who plays Rosie, a singer in the film. The film will be released in two versions, one for Indian audience and the other for an international release. The editing for the international version is by Oscar-winner Thelma Schoonmaker.
