"The Martian" is an American science-fiction film, based on the novel of the same name by Andy Weir. The film, directed by Ridley Scott from a screenplay written by Drew Goddard. It will mark Scott's fourth sci-fi film after Alien (1979), Blade Runner (1982) and Prometheus (2012). The film is scheduled to be released on November 25, 2015 in 3D.

Stars Matt Damon as Mark Watney, an astronaut who finds himself stranded on Mars after a storm forces an evacuation of a human habitat. The movie's all-star cast also includes Jessica Chastain, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jeff Daniels, Kristen Wiig, Michael Pena, Kate Mara, Sebastian Stan, Aksel Hennie, Sean Bean and Donald Glover.

During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meagre supplies, Watney must draw upon his ingenuity, wit, and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive.
Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring 'the Martian' home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible, rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney's safe return.
Yesterday, 20th Centry Fox released a teaser video of Damon's Watney introducing audiences to the crew of the Ares 3, played by Jessica CHastain, Kate Mara, Michael Pena, Sebastian Stan and Aksel Hennie.
